This small community within the township of Madawaska Valley, is surrounded by forests, lakes, and natural attractions. Historically, Barry's Bay, Ontario was mainly a home for the lumber and wood industry. Now, this community is a popular tourist attraction right next to Algonquin Park, which brings vacationers in from all around.
Although tourism is its main industry, there are still many companies manufacturing here. International Wood Industries and Len Rumleskie & Sons Lumber Co. Ltd. are the two main lumber yards in the community. You'll also find a coffee roastery, construction company, and an auto parts dealer. The Pembroke campus of Algonquin College, just an hour from Barry's Bay, offers comprehensive programs. In town, the Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Catholic College enrols 100 students per year in their liberal arts program.
Between Sudbury and Montreal, Barry's Bay residents and businesses can use highways 60 and 41 to reach the TransCanada Highway. Ottawa, Peterborough, and Gravenhurst are all approximately 2 hours from Barry's Bay. The Ottawa International Airport provides air travel and cargo shipping.
